We are pleased to offer for your consideration a wonderful restored Roullet & Decamps knitting rabbit automaton made in France in the early 1900’s.  This adorable rabbit measures approximately 14” tall to the top of its ears.  This automaton works very well and when wound the rabbit will move its head up and down as if to be looking first at the knitting in its paws and then up to the audience for approval while both paws alternate back and forth, moving the knitting needles as if it were actually knitting.  This rabbit has very cute action!  The rabbit is wound using the fixed original R&D key protruding from its back.  The rabbit’s body is made of papier mache then covered with real rabbit fur and inside it contains the clockwork mechanism.  This cute automaton has had some minor restoration work done to it.  Both front paws have been restored and both the red knitting needles and the blue knitting have been replaced; the remainder of the automaton is all original.  Without extensive knowledge of Decamps Knitting rabbits the restoration work done would be undetectable.  This rabbit is being offered at a lower price that reflects the fact that it has had restoration work do to it.  You still get an adorable Roullet & Decamps knitting rabbit automaton, just with a lower investment cost!  PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS AND USE THE ZOOM FEATURES FOR THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF THIS ADORABLE AUTOMATON.
